What holiday gifts are you buying (or receiving)?

Emphasis on “HE” for sure.

Well if hubby is gonna be in charge of running the mopping device, I say go for it. Years ago I loved it when my guy bought us a Christmas upright vacuum. It was tall enough for him, and he was going to take over the vacuuming. I called it “the gift that came with parts and labor”. My kind of thing, though I can understand why other wives don’t like it.

My husband claims that he is allergic to vacuum cleaners because his older sister used him as a slave child labor to vacuum clean family rugs when he was a kid. Fine! That gives me the license to buy any vacuum cleaning gizmo - no questions asked. But if one ever appeared under the tree… Mr. B knows I’d go nuclear on him. :sunglasses:

I’m not against appliances as gifts. I had DH return an emerald ring one year in exchange for a new stove. The issue with the robot mop is that I happened to comment once that it was about time those things could dry-vac and wet-mop, too. He took that to mean I wanted one when he should know by now that if another electronic device enters this house, I’m moving out. Plus, if we kept it, he’d probably name it and feed it treats. (He is never getting a dog.)

I hear you about electronic gizmos! I want my house to be as dumb as possible. I got myself a fancy mop that can be connected to the internet apparently. There is no way in h-e-double hockey sticks I’m having a floor washer connected to the internet in my house! I ignored the setup prompts and just use it as is. :sunglasses: If it needs a human to use it, it ain’t gonna connect to the internet!

And nothing on earth cleans a floor like I do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh my!

I bought myself a cordless vacuum as a gift this year. I am very excited! It’s so exhausting vacuuming with my Miele for 1:30 every week. This should help out a lot.

One year I bought H a new toaster and a frying pan for Xmas, so I probably deserved the lump of coal that year.

Well…I got most of what was on my Christmas list which was one thing…a new Fitbit. I also got new earrings, a gorgeous silk scarf, several good books, and some goodies.

DH got the knife he wanted, plus an ice cream scoop (long story…but the Cutco folks goofed up my order and send the ice cream scoop with the correct knife for my inconvenience).

We celebrate Christmas with DD and SIL tomorrow.

Things are a little different here, with one kiddo sick… lots of napping. So we actually never got to the stockings and the meager presents under the tree. But we had a wonderful egg casserole breakfast, ample puzzle time, a bit of music for voicemail cheer, and a nice ham dinner.

Our gift to ourselves is a RT to Hawaii! Can’t wait to “open” it. :sunglasses: :desert_island:

Okay, I guess I’m officially boring. My wish list: New Pyrex measuring cups & a new toaster. I bought a robo mop/vacuum (I’m geeky about my “smart” house) on a steep Black Friday deal and told H to wrap it up. Only surprise was a luxury sheet set D & I loved when we went to a spa this summer that she hunted down online.

It was nice to celebrate with both kids, and have a bit of overlap – and that everyone is happy and healthy. THAT’S the biggest gift!

My BIL knows never to buy my sister any appliance of any type as a birthday or Christmas gift. He learned that one the hard way.

That doesn’t apply to what she buys him. I bought my daughter/BF a carpet shampooer, but it turns out they already have one, so my sister bought it from me for her husband. She said he’ll be thrilled with it.

My wife and I share most on line accounts so some of her search sites will often come up as adds on my sites. Led me to a winter coat she had been “stalking”.

Managed to go through some hoops and get it here just in time. I think I made the nice list as she seems happy!!

This is too funny. I would actually love this gift.

My husband and I’s gift was a Dyson this year. Wasn’t exactly exciting but was needed as our old one was dead. I figure if I want something fun I will just buy it for myself later on

Hubby liked his Pubpass (free beer at 25 local breweries). He won’t get to every place, but it only takes about 5 to break even. Another couple we know goes to beer a lot with us, and the wife got same gift.

The only way something like a vacuum would enter this house as a gift is if it specifically asked for. That said, we gave #2Ds BF a Bissell spot cleaner. He was so excited, much appreciated.

I did get a portable/plug in towel warmer for our 2nd home to replace the one that broke several months ago. We have one on the wall here and I can’t get through winter morning showers w/o it.

Everyone seemed pleased with what they received, so that was a definite plus. Food processors, baking and cooking equipment, scrubs, the ubiquitous quarter zips.

I actually asked for and received a vacuum cleaner for Christmas :joy: It’s really the only thing I needed/wanted. I don’t like to receive gifts, but I do love to give them. My favorites this year were the ones I made for our DD. I hand painted sneakers. One pair is Spider-Gwen themed with white and pink webs; the high tops are My Chemical Romance themed. It’s her favorite band.

She’s a huge comic fan, and we have a big monthly book warehouse sale near us where everything is 70% off including comics/graphic novels. MIL and I took her on a shopping spree; she found several issues of series she hadn’t been able to locate over the years. She walked out of there with piles of books. This is just a portion of what she picked. We both bought several novels as well. I think DD and I may have a book addiction.

Aw I love my robot vacuum and asked specifically for it for some holiday — I think maybe Mother’s Day. DH wasn’t sure about it for the reasons you sketched out but it’s one of my fave gifts in recent years. It’s like a robot and a remote control car but with a purpose. And honestly I do treat it a bit like a very obedient pet. I say “Eufy, come here,” and press the button on the remote and he does!

It makes vacuuming fun for me when I would be resentful and grumbling with a push vac.

If my DH wants a new vacuum…he can buy it for himself!
