A lot of public and even private colleges have honors programs or honors colleges. If you have come across one that you find outstanding academically, could you name it and note what aspects you think are great?

St. Mary’s College Of Maryland and New College Of Florida are public honors colleges in themselves.

The University of Alabama. Yes, Bama! The honors college is fabulous. Class sizes average 15 students, the Dean of the honors college schedules appointments with students just to check in, and the honors housing is second to none. Oh, and the merit scholarships available are among the most generous in the country.

It’s hard to really talk knowledgeably about honors colleges where you don’t have direct experience as a student or the parent of a student, but I can say we have had a great experience with the Clark Honors College at the Univ. of Oregon!
