I am really looking forward to Christmas this year-
Last year, I spent it sitting home with our elderly labrador & my oldest was house/dog sitting in her town & couldn’t leave, her sister went down to help & H drove down on Xmas and came back a couple days later.

The year before, we were all here for Christmas but ( couldn’t go anywhere- our dog had her spleen removed) so that was stressful and tense * not to mention- there went our xmas money- for the next ten years* nothing like the previous twenty years, that we had been taking our holiday trip to the mountains.

But this year, we are going to get a few days all together in Oregon, ( to make it easier on D & BF- and on me actually, cause the drive to the mts from Portland, is an hour or so, whereas the drive to the Okanagan from Seattle is 7+hrs & I don’t have anti-lock brakes. :p- can you believe they made a Jeep without ABS? )
D2 will be going down earlier to spend more time with her sister, then we all will be going skiing for Christmas before D & BF, fly back to his parents ( who live in Alabama).

It might be a new tradition!
( and since next year- I plan to have a dog- I will scout out the places that take pets)

I am looking forward to the winter holidays as well. We stopped decorating the house when PMKjr started high school as he is really not into that kind of stuff and I wasn’t feeling it either (we usually travel or celebrate at a friend’s house on Christmas day, so we enjoy their decorating.) Well, this year I’m feeling very nostalgic and so I’m busting out the decorations. I’m going to get a real tree that smells wonderful and a wreath for the door.

I want the house to feel like the holidays when PMKjr comes home in December. Ironically, that would mean doing nothing but my logic is running on empty and my heart is running on high, so it’s going to be a winter wonderland in here…even if it’s going to be 80 degrees outside!

Most of all, I cannot wait to see PMKjr. I know he’ll be busy catching up on sleep and with high school friends but I don’t care…I just want to catch a glimpse of him!

by * next year* I will get another dog- I haven’t really decided yet what kind- everyone is trying to sell me on what they like.
I’d like to get another lab- but we had to help Sadie into the jeep & the house in her later years, and it got kinda hard- she wasn’t tall, but she was solid.

Well, I have a good friend who helps place jack russells and other small terriers that need homes. She’s up in the Seattle area–send me a PM if that appeals to you, I bet she could find the perfect dog for you!

Jack Russells aren’t anything like the sweet, I-aim-to-please labs, though. They are ususally high energy (sometimes hyper), mischievous, and strong-willed. Cute as all get-out, of course. But, are you ready for all that comes in that cute little package of dynomite?

Speaking of dynamite, that’s our english springer spaniel. He runs 5-6 miles with DH every other day and still has energy to do a few laps around the backyard when he gets home!

I lost my American Eskimo last year. Smartest dog I ever owned. Trained completely on hand signals and super loyal to his person (ME!). I still miss him.

I forgot that where we are staying * takes dogs* and has a lot of dogs and cats running around. I think D’s BF is going to be bringing his lab/husky mix, I haven’t met him yet- but it will be nice to get some doggie love.

Jym, I once was convinced that I wanted a Cavalier King Charles, but then I read that they are very prone to congenital heart defects, and on average, live only 7-10 years. 7-10 years! I’d just be settling comfortably into my relationship with my best friend when he’d suddenly be gone:( I’d rather not knowingly sign on for that.
