I’d be a teacher, and I’d be teaching regular elementary, middle, or high school stuff.

Honestly, a high school education is fine for me. True, I’m a blue collar guy from a blue collar town, and the only reason I’m going to college is because it’s required if you want to teach.

College is a necessary evil in life. Heck, if it weren’t for my parents pushing it so much, I’d have left home a year ago and been a carpenter or something.

They say it’s the best four years of your life, but to me it’s the four years of hell that gets forced on you if you want to make a decent living, or so it seems. My best four years are behind me (1986, 1987, 1988, and 1989). High school was also a lot of fun, and I sure wish it lasted another four years sometimes.

Am I happy with my college? I love the education it gives me, and the profs are awesome. I don’t stick around for most of the events because I’m busy enough off campus, plus I get to be with people other than wild and obnoxious college students in that case.

College, a necessary thing? Yeah right. It’s necessary if you want to waste your life (drink, smoke, get high, have sex), but for a good old blue collar boy who doesn’t believe in that kind of crap it’s only a necessary evil.

BTW: I have a reputation in my town of being the “blue collar technician”. No degree, no certification of any kind. I learn it all firsthand, and pride myself on having experience as my only credential. Remember, it’s the quality of the work done, not the credentials.
