what am i going to do with my life if i dont get in on march 31st
Did you make applications to other schools?
IMO that’s not the healthiest attitude to take into a process where other people are making the decisions and you have no control.
Hopefully you’ve applied to other schools where you may also be happy. And if you wind up going to one of those, that school may turn out, in retrospect, to be the best thing that ever happened to you.
You never know.
It’s reasonable and appropriate to develop a preference hierarchy, but don’t get too hung up on any one school.
Life moves on I guess.
@JustOneDad i applied to 9 other schools and have close to a full ride at one of them, but its not the same as cornellll
@monydad i think cornell would peak the list as the best thing to ever happen to me…
@CaptJack ughhhhhhh
Do u think that all decisions are already made? And that they are just holding onto decisions right now until the 31st? Or maybe they havent even looked at my application yet
Yes, decisions are already made. I think it takes a little time to match decisions to financial aid packages. I think.
@Renomamma ok thanks!
@monydad
That is some solid advice:
- Dont let your attitude be affected in a process where other people are making the decisions and you have no control.
- It’s reasonable and appropriate to develop a preference hierarchy, but don’t get too hung up.
Thank you!
U go do some other U
Disappointed applicants are given some leeway. What you’re discussing goes beyond that – you already have a full ride for undergrad. How many people in the history of this planet have gotten to go to any university? You seriously need to see if you want to handle this maturely or not. It’s your decision. But pleading for sympathy or unicorns and butterflies because Cornell rejected you while you already have a full ride to another uni? Nope. Time for some growing up to happen.
It will suck. You’ll have to go somewhere else. But you will live.
Speaking from experience.
@bodangles im so scared
@T26E4 harsh one bro…
Hey man! I’m so scared, too. Cornell is the biggest thing in my life right now lol
Did you apply ED?
If you don’t get in, life will go on. You will enroll in another school, make friends, learn new things, and a year from now you will look back on your post and say that everything worked out just fine.
@green678 i think your right about that!
@airspirit nope haha i would have, but i didnt have a chance with the test scores i had at the time ED applications were due(i went hard and increased my SAT by about 400 points in a few months!)
You get to escape freezing Ithaca winters :D/ Chill!
@Coriander23 so right about that… Haha
OP –
If you don’t get into Cornell, you will most likely have success at whatever school you choose to attend. You will most likely meet a great group of people who will become lifelong friends. You will use your undergraduate years as a time to explore and hopefully find your passion. At the end you will graduate, and most likely find a career that is stimulating and satisfying, you will have success to the extent of your abilities.
If you do get into Cornell … Same.
