What if I don't take SAT Subject tests?

So one school I really like recommends subject tests but doesn't require them. Would it hurt my chances of being accepted if I haven't taken any? If so, how much? I'll be a senior so I don't really think I have much time to take any, and even if I did I don't have loads of money to keep spending on more tests because I've taken the ACT twice and that's enough for me. But I'm really wondering if this would hurt me at all.

It might help to post the name of the school. Some schools accept the ACT in lieu of the subject test.

Oh sorry, I don't know why I didn't say which school. It's Northwestern University.

Not Northwestern

Mmkay, so three subject tests are recommended, but will it hurt my chances of being accepted if I don't take any? I just don't know a whole lot about subject tests because not many people from my school take them.

I don't have an answer for that, but on CC, folks seem to think recommended means do it. It would have been nice if it was a school that accepts the ACT instead.
