I got a double in Stern (not my choice), but I have decided to just make the best of it. Just wondering though, if my roommate decides to switch out, will that mean I’m going to be living in a single? I highly doubt anyone will be transfering INTO Stern at that point.

No, you will get another roomate. You will probably have a single for a few days or weeks, but not the whole year.

If you’re lucky you might have a single the whole semester, but the following semester, someone will definitly move in.

I’m not so sure about definitely. It’s highly probable and likely, but I know someone who’s roommate and he had a double to himself for most of the year. Spring admits may very well move into Stern, or people might want to transfer from other campus housing.

NO. That is most definetly NOT the case.

My roommate moved out in the first week of the second semester (spring) and I got a double all to myself. But that was in Foothill. Maybe it’s different in the Units.

^ Did your roommate by any chance like to go into the forest to look for bears?

dobby, you might have been an exception…or one that slipped through the cracks. usually, they won’t let anyone move out enless they have a replacement already lined up.

Well, I think what happened to me is fairly common in one dorm - Foothill.
Why? Because many sophomores there leave to study abroad during the spring semester and many more engineering freshmen leave because they can’t cut it. I know several people who got a single experience in a double room at foothill because of those two reasons. (Add to it that few want to move to Foothill.)
