I’m still confused by the estimated form and the corrected form.

How does the financial aid officer treat this case usually?
They receive the estimated form but do NOT have actual corrected form.
1-1. Do they ask actual corrected form?
1-2. Do they process just using the estimated form?
1-3. Disregard the estimated form and drop the financial aid?

What if there is big difference between FAFSA and CSS?
2-1. Ask an explanation?
2-2. Interpreat by themself?
2-3. Disregard the forms and drop the financial aid?

1-1. Do they ask actual corrected form? (No, not at first. They issue a tentative aid package, and wait for the corrected form that indicates that you’ve completed taxes and corrected FAFSA before they finalize any award.)
1-2. Do they process just using the estimated form? (yes)
1-3. Disregard the estimated form and drop the financial aid? (no)

2-1. Ask an explanation? (no- read the threads here that explain the differences. Best to understand the process, and the formulas well ahead of filing).
2-2. Interpreat by themself? (Huh?)
2-3. Disregard the forms and drop the financial aid? (Huh?)

Get “Paying for College Without Going Broke” or a similar book, and learn how it works. Or read the many threads here that cover most of the same material.

The final corrected form (with 2006 taxes at many schools) is a prerequisite for the final financial aid package. If you don’t send it, or confirm that there are no changes from the estimated form, they don’t release the money. It’s like asking “What happens if I don’t send my final transcript and proof of graduation?” They don’t let you in.

You will need to amend your FAFSA to indicate that your taxes are filed. Until you do that and submit it to your schools, most schools will not finalize your financial aid award. And if you wait too long…any “estimated award” could be given to someone who meets the deadlines.
