Ok, so as of last semseter my class rank is 36/508 . However, at that point my GPA was only a 4.00, furthermore, In the second semester of my freshman year i was ranked somewhere around 277/508. My class rank went up (obviously), that’s good that its such a huge jump right? also, what can colleges infere about my school and its quality if a 4.00 put bumped me up THAT high in class rank?

that your school is weak. well thats what i got from it. but on the flip-side, 35 people are still ahead of you and you have a 4.0, so it can go both ways

What classifies a tough competetive school? My school offers 16 AP’s, was voted best public high school in the county, had the highest SAT and AP scores in the county and the highest turn out for people taking SAT and AP tests… lol I’m not trying to contradict your statement … well … maybe i am, but I don’t think that sounds like a very weak school to me

its hard to distinguish between competitive and grade inflation, but the colleges already have a very good idea of what your high school is like. i really dont know

What can u say about my class rank… The first one is PRETTY bad, will this be a help or hindrance when it comes to college admissions?

ya your class is a little weak

my class 633 and a 4.0 would only get me to around 60

most schools throw out freshman year, i know UCs only count 10th and 11th. it’s a positive that you improved that much, but it’s a negative that it was that low in the first place. i think the positive outweighs the negative here, but it depends on the school you’re applying to.

(as of now) I’m applying to All UC’s excluding Merced, Santa Cruz and Irvine, USC , U Chicago, George Washignton and maybe Brown (I’m applying to the summer school program, if i get in, i do well, and I like it, I’ll apply ED/EA)
