What in the world dose this mean?? (SHC essays)

How should public officials balance competing claims when it comes to complex issues like our energy future?
What???

I would worry about the grammar of your title first

What do you think it means? Are there specific parts you don’t understand? The question makes perfect sense to me, but I am reluctant to help if all you can do is say “What???”

I just asked a question… :frowning:
I am not from the us and I don’t understand what the question asked after the word “balance” that is all, if you think u are a good person then you will add an explanation of how to answer the question…

are you saying you don’t understand the question grammatically? you don’t understand the issue? you don’t understand what politicians do? You say you are from a foreign country-maybe you are having a language issue, or it could be cultural, suggest that you do some current events research so that you can have some insights for your essay. Energy issues have been much in the news in the US, so you should not have trouble finding information about it. What foreign country are you from?

Oh, my bad…
I don’t know what “competing claims” means (I looked in to the dictionary) and how It could be balanced and what it has do do with the Political people and the nation’s energy…
Apart from that I do not know how to approach the question… what would be an answer… dont worry I wont copy, I just need a template.
some specific questions
What dose “competing claims” mean? is it when politicians say “I personally did this, did that” or dose it mean “This energy filled place belongs to the US” Or what?
why do political figures do it?
How do they do it in relation to the energy issue?
To balance some thing you need some thing else… what is the opposite of competing claims, in other words, what are you balanceing it with?

I think competing claims could be read a couple different ways, but one would be to read it as the competing claims of different interest groups such as business vs. environmentalists. You’ll need to do some research both on energy issues as well as the political process in order to develop a viewpoint for an essay.

BTW the word you want to use is “does” not “dose” (a “dose” is a noun and refers to an amount of something you take like a medicine while the word “does” is a form of the verb “to do”). :)

Thanks Pa mom!!!
