<p>IMO, 50+ is substantial enough to be noticed (any less, and it seems like it is just done to supplement an application). If it is 200+ hours, then community service can be considered a mainstay in one’s extracurricular activities, so to say. If it is more than 400+ hours, then it seems that this person is probably really dedicated to community service. You can’t ever really say that someone has started a bogus community service project just for college admissions. Even if he/she did, the resulting intentions were at least honorable. These are just my assumptions</p>
