Is a 730CR, 640M, 710W good enough? I don’t want to retake because I studied for 6 months very rigorously, and brought my math up from a 540 to the 640 that I got, and think if I retake it wouldn’t change that much… That being said, I do have very unique ECs, a good GPA, and good recs…

you should be fine ![]()
There have been people with lower stats than you who’ve gotten in, but it also depends on the classes you take (whether they are rigorous and whether they somewhat support your intended major in college).

I’d say if your pursuing writing or journalist, then your SATs are good, but if its something business related or hard on math, then there might be the problem. It all comes down to what you want to major in. But you seem to be a good candidate! Definitely try and best of luck :)

If you applied ED, i’m almost certain you would get in

Thanks so much for the advice! GW is like my top choice right now and I plan to major in a combination of communications / politics so I’m guessing that I would be alright then… I hope! :)

They do have a political communications major. And yeah, your SAT is fine

vist the school. send a letter to admissions. interview. very important to show interest, and it is all tracked…it matters.

Okay thanks. I plan to visit this summer, and I met with one of the guys in charge of admission who was visiting our school this year and sent him an email just to get my name in there… Also, do you have to sign up for an inteview, because I thought once you submit your application they call you for an interview?

If you are positive GW is your first choice, I encourage you to apply early decision. With your sat, good essays and a decent interview you are almost guaranteed admission (regular decision is a crapshoot). The added bonus is you’ll know in december so you can enjoy the last 6 months of senior year without worrying about anything.

Well I was going to apply ED, but the thing is, I am hoping to compare Financial Aid packages from all the schools I apply to, so ED seems like it is ruled out at this point :(

even if you don’t apply for ED, i think you still have a good shot at RD. you have the stats. so now what’s really important is you show that you really want to go to gwu. try to visit, set up interviews, etc. when the app asks you what other colleges you’ve applied to, lie. i wrote that i only applied to rutgers and gwu.
good luck!

Wait I’m still confused… I thought you had to fill out an application before you interview? If not though, where can I go to set up an interview?

i think you can back out of ED if your financial package isn’t good enough.

you have to sign up for an interview…they don’t call you. i recall something on the website about where and when GW ‘comes to you’ (ie- to a town near you) , or,…you can schedule an interview at the school. poke around the website or call admissions for help as to where to sign up. i think they do them fall of senior year, but you should check to see if you can do it earlier.

I think it still may come down to just how “good” your GPA (and also rank) is. The school has gotten even more competitive of late, like most selective schools.

URMs with 3.5s and 1800ish sats can still sneak in ED. admission standards aren’t THAT crazy hard yet.
