What is a word for coworkers that doesn't make adcoms think the writer is pompous?

colleagues? Coworkers? This is in the context of an internship. To say: My “colleagues” and I decided…? What is a good word so I don’t sound like pompous(since they all seem to imply a overly professional setting for high school students)?

Friends. Simple, and it could be interpreted as you liking your internship.

Ehh…right…I am making it too complicated. Thanks.

Teammates?

It depends on what type of internship it was and if it was professional. “My fellow interns” or “My colleagues” are both accurate and I would not worry about sounding pompous.
