What is an aggie?

<p>Aggie is the UC Davis’ mascot? I’m assuming this because I have a pin that says “Go Aggies!”. I’ve tried googling it, but all I get is something completely different. Is it a horse? I seriously want to know what an aggie is.</p>

<p>Aggie is a term for students of an (historically) agricultural school. Since schools like UC Davis & Texas A&M have agricultural roots, all students at schools such as these are “Aggies”.</p>

<p>The official UC Davis mascot is a mustang - hence the horse image.</p>

<p>As the administration has tried to “upgrade” the UCD image the Aggie term has been downplayed. To old timers the Aggie image was important. Hence the cheer at athletic events of Bossy-Cow-Cow. It still is the Cal Aggie Alumni Association and many have not forgiven the administration for painting over the the block CA (Cal Aggies) on the campus water tower with the stylized UC Davis logo.</p>
