What is an "AP Study Hall"?

So, most of you are familiar with a directed study period, or a study hall, which is basically a period in which you can do homework, read, etc. At my school, both AP study period and normal “Study Hall” are provided; and you can sign up for either.

I have a friend who was strongly advised not to take AP U.S. History by multiple teachers and counselors, but she had gone ahead and signed up anyways. APUSH is the only AP available to Sophomores, and she decided to take an “AP Study” along with it.

I was under the notion than an AP Study was for students looking to self study AP courses not available at our school in preparation for the AP exam, she thinks that its to study and do homework specifically assigned in her AP Courses. Using this logic, most Juniors would need 6 study periods.

So, what do you presume an AP Study is?

I have no idea. Maybe a time to do AP homework and work on self-studying.
I always thought AP Study Hall was a joke.

An incredibly difficult course, in which the finer points and biological mechanics of slacking are studied in depth.

^I smiled a little bit.

We call AP stats ap study hall at our school
