What is an ideal Kinesiology University in California?

I have researched colleges and I’m looking to be in a CSU or Private University. I just get a bit confused when it comes to the degrees, a lot say programs or Point Loma seems to only offer masters? I need a BA in kinesiology and will move on to med school after. Any suggestions for application?
Here’s my stats-
Major: Kinesiology
AA-T/AS-T?: AA-T
Pre reqs: Done by Spring 2017
Golden 4: 1 class left. 1 A, 2 B’s

GPA? Local In-service area CSU?

Thanks that’s very helpful! My GPA is a 3.0 and The local CSU is Cal State Northridge because I attend a community college in Santa Clarita. I’m looking to get out of the area though… Possibly SDSU

SDSU is a very tough admit if you are not local. I have heard very good things about Cal state Fullerton’s program and also Long Beach.

With a 3.0, Fullerton, Long Beach and SDSU are going to be tough.

I’d take a look at some of the less selective CSUs. How do you feel about San Marcos, Sac, Monterrey, Humboldt, or Sonoma?

Well darn. I’m hoping to get my GPA up these next semesters before graduation. I’m also applying for academic renewal as I started college at 14 and naturally I messed up. Do you think it will make a difference? And I can consider San Marcos and Sonoma… What about private universities? Are they harder to get into?

With that GPA and the popularity of SDSU, that’s not going to happen. Private universities will be enormously expensive and your transfer status will not derive many scholarship opportunities. Now that you’re considering academic renewal, are you sure you still want to pursue med school? It will be extremely tough and expensive. My dd’s friends are currently going through the application process and even with strong GPA’s, good MCATs, and apps, it is tough.

Re San Marcos: If you’re not from the local area, you really NEED to visit San Marcos before applying. It is nothing like SDSU, so don’t make assumptions.

Their web site page states emphatically that they are impacted in kinesiology: https://www.csusm.edu/cehhs/studentservices/admission/kinesiology.html

Well thank you for putting everything into perspective for me. I’d rather have honesty then false hope. Private universities may be expensive but I’m not going to disregard privates just because of that, I can figure out the expenses. I do want to go to med school as it has been a dream to be a doctor since I was 9. I have always done well in Science/Math classes, it’s the English /History based classes that really got to me. I know that with hard work I can get in somewhere, even if it’s not in California. I just want to stay in California for my undergrad.

I know San Marcos is a very different setting, thanks for the link!

For private schools with good kinesiology, check out University of the Pacific in Stockton. You may also want to check out St. Mary’s in Moraga and Although religious-based schools, Point Loma and Cal Lutheran both have good programs.

Outside of California, Linfield in Oregon has a terrific program and generous merit aid.

You may want to consider schools that participate in the WUE tuition program.
Washington State immediately comes to mind, as does Colorado State.

For the CSU’s, here’s their list of schools that have kinesiology majors:
