what is an improper coordination?

what is an improper coordination? is it the same thing as a comma splice?
and how do you know if it is an impropercoordination or a comma splice?

thank u

I don’t know for sure what is meant by “improper coordination,” but I am assuming it’s the improper use of coordinating conjunctions. Coordinating conjunctions are conjunctions that connect independent clauses that are similar in importance. Examples of coordinating conjunctions are and, but, and so. Examples:
I am cold, but he is warm.
I am running, and he is walking.
He became tired, so he stopped running.
Here is a case of improper vs. proper use of coordinating conjunctions:
INCORRECT: It is cold outside, so I did not bring my jacket.
CORRECT: It is cold outside, but I did not bring my jacket.

This is different from a comma splice. Here is an example of a comma splice:
INCORRECT (Comma Splice): I am running, he is walking.
CORRECT (No Comma Splice): I am running, and he is walking.
