I know that capital markets have something to do with investment banking, but i hardly even know about investment banking, and the only reason i want to go into that field is to make that dough. Should i just not mention capital markets, or investment banking in my cover letter, or should I? and, if yes give me a vague idea of what i should write, please.
Also what is capital markets?

Capital markets tends to be separate from IB. You have equity capital markets (ECM) and debt capital markets (DCM). IB generates more rev and brings in more business than the CM groups. I, personally, think DCM is more interesting, but I am in the minority. Banking tends to be more desired because of the modeling skills and the other deal skills. This can easily translate into PE exit opportunities.

A good recommendation is, if you are unsure, do not include it.

If you are applying for an IB position or a research/sales position in capital markets, you will most likely go through multiple interview rounds and one of them will be technical. You should read about it before sending in your cover letter because you will be grilled on it.

Capital markets is divided into primary and secondary markets. When you say capital markets in IB, you are talking about the primary market where new bonds/stocks are issued/sold to investor. The NYSE is a secondary market.

Capital Markets is where capital is distributed via a market.

Seriously, if you can’t figure this out on your own, lol at you thinking you’ll come close to getting even a 1st round at a BB bank
