What is "Class Percentile"?

Some applications ask for Class Percentile, and I’m not sure what it means. I’m in the top 1.89% of my class, but I don’t know whether that means I should put down 1.89 or 98.1. I’m kind of stressing because I’m worried they might think I’m in the lowest 2% of my class. =(

i don’t know the answer, but i doubt the ad officers will think you are in the bottom 2% if your grades have put you at the top of your class.

Since it says “percentile”, it probably means you want to put 98.1%. But you should call the college(s) and ask just to be sure.

I would write: “98.1 (top 2% of my class).” You can also call, as mentioned. However, on an application it never hurts to restate something like that in 2 diff. ways, so that it’s clear.

I think saying 98th percentile is quite unambiguous.

If you said 2nd percentile, it would indeed mean you were at the bottom, but I think any admissions committee rep would have enough sense to look at your grades and question that.

thnx for the responses

does anybody else know anything about percentiles?
