What is considered a good or competitive UC GPA?

I calculated by UC GPA and have a 4.23… Is this considered a competitive GPA for UC Berkeley or UCLA? I’m just wondering because I’m not really sure how they got that number after I put in my stats. Thank you!

See “Freshman admission profiles by campus”

UCLA: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/ucla/freshman-profile/index.html</a></p>

I like to use the CSU/UC GPA calculator at this link: <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

Here is a link to the Freshman 2014 profiles for UCLA and UCB:

A GPA of 4.23 is competitive, but that is only part of your application.

I’d say it’s barely competitive for Berkeley but definitely competitive for UCLA if you’re in-state. According to my Naviance, most people who are accepted from my school have GPA’s of around 4.3+ with the average accepted GPA being 4.5 (and we’re a California school, btw).

In terms of weighted, quite frankly, yes. But UCs tend to look at unweighted GPAs more than weighted in order to create an equal playing field.

UCGPA is different from weighted GPA. UCGPA is capped. Weighted GPA is uncapped. I posted this link in your “Can I consider these safeties/matches?” thread.

4.23 is a great UCGPA. It is higher than Berkeley’s average GPA.

@Mangiafuoco That’s cool, but there is in fact a thing called “uncapped UC GPA”, as well as a “capped UC GPA”. IIRC, UCLA and UCB look at uncapped.
