I have received my tentative financial aid offer from the school I plan to attend. It’s made up of one scholarship, an unsubsidized loan, and a subsidized loan. In addition, I plan to apply to local, outside scholarships. On one application, I am asked to list the amount of financial aid that I have already secured. I have not accepted either of my loans, and I do not plan on accepting them. Should I include them in the amount of financial aid I have secured on the scholarship application? Thank you!
the amount of financial aid that you have already secured is your financial aid package.
If you do not plan on accepting your loans, then you have to find a way to make up that money. At many schools, the outside scholarships that you receive will replace the loan amounts.
So include the loans in the outside scholarship application even if I do not plan on accepting them?
Edit:
I’m not sure if you can delete comments on here, but I understand your response. Thank you so much!
No, I wouldn’t include loans. The outside scholarship is looking for how much you need, and since you aren’t going to take the loans, you still need that amount. You might be able to just pay the amount you’ve been offered in loans, or in the end you might need to take the loans, but for right now you have the scholarships from your school.
