For a deferred candidate, I understand the importance of the midyear report, but for a solid straight-a student taking a very demanding schedule and good ECs, can a B or two be negative on the midyear report?

I have a bad mid-year report, you don’t -
Engineering - 97
English - 71
Physics - 73
Pre-Calc - 60-65(Hopefully I pass)
Gym - 97
Economics - 75

Bad mid-year report includes E(s), D(s), and C(s). Though if your speaking of a mid-year report from a deferrel ( not common application required mid-year reports) its best to get all A’s.

The post above is a good example of a bad mid-year report (A,CC,D,A,C).

B’s aren’t bad on midyear reports, especially if you are taking extremely rigorous classes. However, yes, those 4 subjects with C’s and under will hurt you.
