Many, many country clubs have residents. Sometimes residents are required to be members, but at some clubs, such as Doupleplay’s, they do not. I believe there are even some clubs that are limited to only residents.

I see, I think it’s a regional nomenclature thing. Out here there are gated communities, a few of which have country clubs (usually golf) inside the gated community. And they range on whether all residents of the gated community are members of the country club, or if non-residents can also join the country club. But people will say they live in a gated community, not in a country club. For instance, they might say “I live in Silver Creek” but they wouldn’t say “I live in Silver Creek Country Club” though they may well be members of the Silver Creek Country Club. But it is more common here to have country clubs that aren’t at all associated with the houses that may overlook their golf course. When looking at country clubs, not one we toured was attached to gated housing.
