What is Haverford's social scene?

I have visited Haverford and liked the collaborative and friendly feeling on campus. Does anyone have insight into the social scene on campus?

Just by reputation within my normal circles, but if it helps–my understanding is it is sort of a typical academicky, verging on nerdy, small college, so not as much of the “play hard” vibe and no Greek Life, but definitely weekend parties and such. There is a very strong norm in favor of being nice.

Lots of people do sports teams (if you can strongly visualize smart students playing preppy sports, you just may be picturing Haverford), so that is one sort of automatic source of social life. There are also lots of student clubs that serve a similar function.

People also get out into Philly, and it has a pretty close relationship with Bryn Mawr, so people may socialize at both campuses if they make friends.

Thank you!

I have a kid there and his main social scene is Nerd House - picture substance-free nerdy board games and such. This is definitely not the main social scene though.

In terms of a statistical aspect of which you may want to be aware, the undergraduate population of the Bi-Co schools (Haverford and Bryn Mawr) is 77% female when considered together.
