What is it like to live in the South?

I’m San Francisco born and raised (well, actually Berkeley, but it’s close enough), and my parents make grits on a weekly basis. I’ve never found out why.

I live in Tennessee and I really love the weather as well as the downright gorgeous countryside of Eastern Tennessee.

I have also always gotten a kick out of the whole bit of calling everyone Ma’am and Sir because it is cute to see a kid call their own granny Ma’am and stuff like that.

The fact that the preppy look just kinda like never died here is cool also, because one can save a lot on clothes!

The economic standard of living is really low here and one can rent out a nice apartment in a nice city pretty cheaply.

I guess the only thing that is bad is that the unemployment rates sometimes really mess over the South for some reason.

I’m a Cali kid but my grandparents are from South and seriously…the food is the best. However, you have to diet after every holiday because all of the calories from the baked macaroni, fried chicken, yams, collared greens, turkey wings, carrot cake, gumbo, etc.
