What is it like?

Currently I’m a CC student looking to transfer for the fall 2007. I have about a 3.8 GPA and some pretty lofty goals. I hope to go to med school one day despite what everyone has told me about starting off at a CC. Before I get to med school I must first finish four years. UofF is one of the schools I’m looking at I was just curious about the environment. One question I have is it a very conservative school? What is their science department like? are there a lot of activities? This is all depending on if I could even get in. Thanks so much in advance.

Come on someone must have some input

I’ll send cookies… Is no one answering because it is conservative?

No one is answering because they do not understand what it is that you are asking. What do you mean by conservative? Are you speaking about politics or religion or morality issues??? UF is a huge school. There are a million activities, hundreds of majors and many different types of people who attend. There is no one “typical UF student”. UF admissions have become extremely competitive and this has influenced the make-up of the student body. Many of the kids that I know who attend or are planning to attend are in the top 10-15% of their high school class, have between a 1270 and 1500 SAT (CR + M), have over 100+ community service hours and excel at something.

Do I get a cookie?

I’m aware that it is a big school, but for example. UNC is also a big school but it also has a fairly liberal feeling for being in the area it is. Religion doesn’t bother me just as long as it’s not over whelmingly Christian or Catholic and pushing it down everyone’s throats (which it isn’t I know). Thanks again for the input and yes I’ll get that cookie out immediately. It is coming from quite a distance away though so hopefully it will still be good.

I believe UF is 50/50 liberal vs. conservative then. The campus really has all types. I do not believe that one is dominant over the other.

Funny, I just happen to come across this article in the onion:

<a href=“The Onion | America's Finest News Source.”>The Onion | America's Finest News Source.;

That article is EIGHT years old and there is no Tenney Hall at UF that I could find. There are religious fanatics everywhere…that dosen’t reflect on the rest of the student population. Hare Krishna is a very large presence at UF…every single tour guide and preview host that we have met have eaten the free Krishna lunch at least once. Until I heard this, I had thought that particular religion had dissapated back in the 1970’s!

I just wanted to make sure that everyone know that The Onion is pure satire…

lol, I thought everyone was aware that it was satire. funny response from seiclan
