What is it with Barack Obama's Gray Hair? (not political)

Oh honestly – he just turned 50 he is supposed to be getting gray hair. And then there is the job –

And, he may have simply inherited genes that make his hair get gray quickly in his late 40s. People do, you know.

Yes, spideygirl I love a good compliment. I will have to contact my local DMV to see if that license plate mentioned in the Seinfield episode is still available.

Glad to hear I am a man.

I like Michele’s arms. They are truly buck.

Obama could use a little of that. He looks way skinny lately. It reminds me of the first Bush. Too skinny for president. My dad always said a man with a skinny waist is a weak man. Our pres needs a little girth.

Ever see him play B-ball?

And white. You forgot that important point, Mini. :)

Well, considering he is presiding over the worst global financial crisis in most of our lifetimes, perhaps he’s earned it. :)

Seriously, is the fact that he’s turning gray ‘so quickly’ suppose to signify something?

@@ sewhappy. and if Obama worked out and got super buff, everyone would whine that he was spending his time lifting weights instead of paying attention to the issues facing the country. I swear, you have the oddest, strangest, most arbitrary physical criteria for evaluating politicians.

“Also, who should represent the real United States as First Lady? Certainly not a skinny girl. She fits nicely in the line up of recent, popular first ladies who would be good dining companions: Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Barbara Bush. Nancy Reagan? No.”

Nice job with judging women on their body shapes and sizes there. Way to go. That’s exactly what this country needs, more judgment on women’s bodies. Here is a concept. Why don’t we judge people on their brains and accomplishments and not their dress size?

Yep, bingo, we have a winner.

I am just guessing here but I sort of suspect your point is exactly why the OP started this thread on Pres. Obama’s looks – to counter the obvious sexism of the thread on Michele Bachmann’s eyes. I made my comments about Mrs. Obama’s giant rear end to echo that point. Of course, I declared my posts to not to be sexists and, thus, I cannot be accused of sexism. And I declared my posts not to be political just as the post on Michele Bachmann’s eyes was not intended to undermine a candidate’s chances of winning a party’s nomination. Yes, I love this new rule that you get to declare your obviously political posts as not political and the CC world is again safe from political comments.

Do you know how hard that is?

I worked with a guy who went gray almost overnight. He was 30-something at the time. It happens.

(And there is probably nothing wrong with Michelle Bachmann’s eyes, but there is definitely something wrong with her eyelids :)).

Stress certainly can cause you to go gray in very quick order. Perhaps it has something to do with the way stress hormones destroy many beneficial vitamins and minerals in the body. I saw it in my own life. More than a decade ago, I underwent a period of about two years during which I was under extreme mental and emotional stress, and in that time, my hair grayed significantly. Other health issues also manifested themselves.

Concerning Obama’s precipitous aging, even during the marathon two years that was the '08 Presidential campaign, I noticed that he seemed to age—and I mean facially. It appeared to me that he aged beyond what one would normally experience in the space of two years (from the time he announced his candidacy to Inauguration Day). The Presidency itself has only accelerated that aging. His facial muscles, especially those around the mouth, have slackened, and he often looks fatigued around the eyes. I’m guessing he doesn’t sleep as well as he should. I think it goes with the territory. It’s extremely stressful being President, no matter your political party. I have to say, however, that Ronald Reagan (at least to me) seemed to visibly age the least during his tenure in office. Of course, it may be that the stress of the Presidency is what caused him to be vulnerable to Alzhiemer’s after leaving office.

^That’s because Ronald Reagan was old (69) when he became president and already came with a full set of major wrinkles and had been dyeing his hair for years. There has been much speculation that the Alzheimer’s (early signs) actually started late in his presidency. Staffers report that some of the signs were there but that no one wanted to say anything. Generally, signs of Alzheimers appear years before a person has the full blown disease but it’s easy to dismiss them as one off.

What does this mean? Or do you mean “buff”? Even the urban dictionary couldn’t help me with “buck”.

I don’t know if this is too political, but the Onion has an article that may explain Obama’s gray hair:
