What is it with George Michael and public toilets?

He just got arrested in a public toilet *again * - drugs this time. The guys a millionaire. How much time do millionaires spend in public toilets? Apparently more than the average Joe (or Josephine). England is somewhat lacking in public toilet availability compared to the US which makes it all the stranger. Maybe there such a thing as a public toilet fetish. Personally I can understand a public toilet phobia better than a fetish.

All that money and getting arrested again in a public toilet. Just struck me as really strange. Of course that comes from someone who has yet to be arrested in a toilet public or otherwise. Or anywhere else come to that. I hope if I am ever arrested it is somewhere magnificent - the Taj Mahal, or a palace - not a toilet.

Situations like his are what I focus on when I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself. If I find myself wishing I could make a whole bunch of money quickly, I think about guys like George … it only ruined their lives. Yeah, I know lots of folks make tons of money & live happily ever after. But since I won’t ever make tons of money, I need my fantasy world that helps me feel better about my lot in life. I may not be rich, but I can honestly say I have never been & will never be arrested in a public toilet! :)

kelsmom - You are definitely a “Glass half full” kind of person ;)

ewww, maybe there is a public toilet fetish thing among men with two first names, George Michael, Larry Craig…

Swimcatsmom, at least my half-full glass isn’t sitting next to a public toilet!!

There was a restaurant owner in my hometown that was amongst many gay men arrested for having sexual encounters in the public restroom behind the town hall, about 20 yrs ago…very odd story when it broke and it ultimately cost him ( and his wife ) their business.
The secret lives of closet homosexuals are apparently not the only ones who indulge in this odd fetish

must be the water closet

^^^ Good one!!

Yeah - that required a ‘don’t be sitting in front of your computer with food or liquid in your mouth when you read this’ warning!

George Michael’s homosexuality is not a secret. Neither is the fact that many gay men choose public restrooms to solicit quick and anonymous sex. Was drug use the only reason George was in that particular restroom? Maybe. Maybe not.

His media attention was waning- this was a free and easy method to get back into it again.

I don’t know, but I suspect George Michael is a sex addict. Addiction causes people to do strange things and to do them repeatedly.

It’s usually the “straight” men who need to have quick and anonymous sex in public restrooms these days. The openly gay men can just, you know, go home to their boyfriends or visit the local gay bar.

That was a funny post, Swimcatsmom. I agree on the public toilet phobia over fetish!

the secret I was referring to, Poetsheart was that of the men in my hometown, not George Michael

corranged,

Once again, you have out-common-sensed many of the adults here. Excellent post.

But that is what is so odd about George Michaels - he is openly gay but still haunts the public toilet scene. From reading the BBC the toilet in question is on Hamstead Heath and is a well known venue for the anonymous sex thing (though how anonymous is it when you are George Michaels?). He has a long term partner who seems ok with this.
