What is less-than-stellar development admits? For Cornell

What GPA or SAT score , would make someone less than stellar ? Do ivies especially Cornell arts and sciences , take chances on students ?

The school has no problem rejecting applicants with 4.0s, so anything below could possibly be considered “less than stellar.” But it’s also important to remember that grades aren’t everything; I’d think that many 4.0s who get rejected are probably overlooked because they didn’t write good admissions essays, didn’t do so hot on the ACT/SAT, didn’t participate in many meaningful ECs, etc.

That being said, I’d think anything below a 3.5 UW is probably out of the question unless you have a really good hook or are being recruited for athletics. They generally don’t have to take many “chances” on students because there are many more stellar applicants than there are available spots, which means that strong applicants will and do get rejected every year. What do your stats look like?
