I’m looking at all pretty good schools, and I intend to apply to a couple Ivies, as well.

My college list is Georgetown, George Washington University, UPenn, Northwestern, Boston College and American University.

My GPA is a 4.0 [102 weighted], my SATs are 1380 [2050 out of 2400], and I’ve taken one SAT II [I will take another in the fall] and I got a 760.

I’ve done a ton of extracurriculars, including soccer, track, Video Club, SEAS, SADD and the National/French Honor Societies. I’ve been the President of the Debate Team, and a leader in Mock Trial throughout high school. Outside of school, I’ve done volunteer work at the Nursing Home, a pet store, and I had an internship over the summer for the State Assemblyman.

Georgetown’s really my number one, but what are my chances with everything as a whole?

In addition, I have taken a sufficient number of AP classes. My AP grades have been: AP World- 4, AP Language/Composition- 4, AP US History- 5

As for my honors and achievements, I’ve been on the High Honor Roll every quarter since 9th grade. I won Student of the Month once, too. I have also won several French Poetry Contests, as well as the SCMTA Math Competition, and the UCP Trivia Challenge.

In addition to the aforementioned volunteer work, I also tutored small children at a tutoring center for several months.

I have a few questions before I can give you an informed chancing. What Subject Test did you take? The impressiveness of a 760 vaires test to test.

What is the breakdown for your SAT score? And, what school at Georgetown do you want to attend? The School of Foreign Service is much more selective than the others.

We would need to know your rank to really advise. Your SAT scores are going to be a huge issue at any ivy and an issue at Georgetown. Do you plan to retake?

Your volunteer work is extensive enough that it might make up for your not-quite-wildly-amazing-dancing-in-the-streets academics. Any chance that you could retake the SAT? You have a good score, but you really need a great one. I’d say, at this point, that’s your biggest weakness, and the only thing keeping you from having very good chances at most of those schools.

noreally- I am aware of that- I intend to take the Math I and Math II SAT II’s this fall.

And just to be general, I am aware my SATs need to go up. I got a 680 in Math, 680 in Verbal and 670 in Writing. But how are my academics not that good?

I’ve got a 96.5 unweighted average out of 100 [not sure what that is out of 4], I’ve taken all APs during high school, I’ve gotten an A+ in every class I’ve ever been in, and my weighted average is over 101.

Assuming my SATs go up, do I have shot at Georgetown or any of those schools- BE HONEST!

I don’t see anything wrong with your GPA. In fact, you did a decent job with your EC’s (you didnt’ exactly stand out, but your activites reflect a big interest in politics, it’s good that you don’t have random club positions scattered here and there).

For Penn, Northwestern and Georgetown, go for mid 2200s. It’s a big stretch based on your current score, but you would need such a score to legitimately have a very good shot for those three.
