So here is what I have…
5.0 Unweighted GPA on a 6.0 scale ( I’m a junior this year )
38 out of 838 class rank ( about top 4.5%)
I think I had 350 English 500 Writing and 670 Math on PSAT and I’m planning on taking SAT in my senior year…
I’m currently taking 3 AP classes and rest of my curriculums are all Pre-AP… I take a lot of science classes because I just love to see how things work and understand them.
I’m in 4 clubs and holding officer in one of them this year… Hopefully I can get in to NHS in Spring!
On a swim team for 1 year and attended a lot of educational camp during summer.
And I scored 20 on my ACT last year…
thank you!
Are you a junior right now?
As long as you stay in the top 7-8 percent through the end of this year and are graduating on the correct diploma, you should be in. Whether you can get into your major is different.

Don’t wait until you are a senior to take ACT and SATs. Take them in December to June timeframe as a junior. If at all possible you want your scores ready to go by early September of senior year. You’ll likely need better than your current scores to get into the program’s you want. If that 350 is not a typo, you really need to get that score up.
Go to the UT forum and read posts there. Watch who gets in to the science majors this year and who does not. Or look back at last year’s posts.
I have pretty crappy grades (3.2 out of 4 GPA, somewhere around top 30 % of my graduating class) but have a 2000 on the sat, is there anyway I get into U.T?
Wait, are you a sophomore or a junior? I can’t tell from your post…
Top 8% of applicants for the fall of 2016
Top 7% of applicants for the fall of 2017/18
Those are who is auto accepted. But that is no reference to acceptance into a college within the university, not your intended major.
I would not wait until senior year to take ACT or SAT. Actually, I highly advise against it. Take on the winter of junior year, and the other in the spring. Which ever one you score higher on, retake it in the summer for a higher score. You do not want to be the kid desperately waiting on scores to come back.
You will get into UT based on your class rank. Getting into a particular major could be a different story. Business and engineering are really competitive so getting into one of those schools will be more difficult.
