What is my chance to yale, princeton, harvard, duke, oxford...?

Hi, I’m asking for my friend (this is not me, I have another thread for myself).

My friend:
Gender: Female
Race: Asian Japanese
GPA: Unweighted 4.2 out of 4.5 scale
AP/IB: IB diploma student.
SAT: Not known yet.
SATII: Chinese 780, other not tested yet

ECs:
Piano:
Played Piano for 12 years.
Win the following:
Start competing since 3rd grade, failed a lot during that period of time.
Win a lot of regional awards afterward.
Last year my region’s 4th place.
This year just won the National Piano Competition first place (the governmental one) (It’s a very big award).
(She wins more than +20 piano competitions during high school life, one is a international representative)
Athletic Council President
Japanese Club President
Piano Club President
Community Service Club Vice President: the club won prudential service award.
Trilingual: Master in three language: English, Japanese, Chinese (speaks all of them as mother language)

Strong teacher recommendation letter: get one from the superintendent of the school.

Major: Planning to major in Law

She doesn’t know much about U.S. universities…(she focus on piano too much) …she is not sure about what universities to apply to…(I just helped her to list some good ones) maybe you can give some advice to universities good in law? Thanks.

CC rules say that you can’t make threads for other people. Let your friend do her own.

At all but one of those universities, there is no law “major”. For all of them there will be TOEFL (or similar requirements) unless attending an English-language school. For Oxford Law the requirement is at least a 38 (with 6.6.6.at HL, and in practice one of those needs should be an essay-based subject), a strong score on the LNAT and the interview. For the rest, with no meaningful stats there is simply no way to even guess. Chances for HYP are not more than 5-7%, simply b/c that is their admission rate and only about 10% of international applicants get in.

kk, thanks! I’ll tell her that.
I tried to delete my post but it seems that it is not possible…
