<p>what i did was add x, 2x-8, 2x+2, 3x-1, 4x+1 and set them to = 30. because only 30/5 equals 6. then i solve for x, plug it in, find out the 5 numbers and find the mode. but that took me a long time. is there a fast way to do this i’m sure the SAT person wont make a problem that time consuming…there MUST BE a shortcut…this is a difficulty 5 question. so if you can do this i praise u

<p>these are questions from the red sat book of 10 real sats by the way. i dunno the explanations so plz elaborate</p>

<p>One: Just find the slope from the first point to the second point and the slope from the first point to the third point and pick a number between those slopes.</p>

<p>Two: I don’t think there’s a quicker way, but a TI-83 and TI-89 will both solve that for you in just the time it takes to plug in the numbers, so really how fast you can plug into the calculator is all that matters. I don’t think there’s a shortcut.</p>

<p>Three: Are you sure it’s not “greater than or equal to”? Because I’m getting 50905 and 51015 which is a difference of 110. If it was 50805 and 50905 that would be 100 though.</p>

<p>Four: They’re just taking the first equation and squaring it, so just square the answer. No logs or anything.</p>
