What is Penn State summer session like? (incoming 2025 freshman)

I’m an out-of-state incoming freshman and I was accepted for the summer session at Penn State. What is the summer session like? I wanted to start in the fall but here I am.

Is only having 1 month of a no-school summer worth it? I’d only be taking two classes, so is it easy to come home often and see my hometown family/friends often (I live about 3 hrs away)?

Are there parties during summer session?

DS is a Sophomore and wishes he would have done it. Great way to get 2 easy classes under your belt, meet people, and have fun. Lots of partying

You won’t hear anything bad about LEAP!

LEAP is amazing. Your friends will want to come visit you for Fourth Fest, and Arts Fest. You will be well settled and familiar with campus and town, ahead of other freshmen and that is really nice when real classes begin.

Your LEAP leader will arrange all sorts of stuff to do, but you’ll have plenty of time for leisure at the pool, art museum, arboretum, restaurants and HUB.

My oldest is getting married this year – he graduated several years ago and his best man is a guy he met at LEAP. You’ll be glad to have come for the summer
