I’m going to be a senior this year, but I haven’t decided on anything yet. I know, i know. Most colleges don’t require you to choose a major until the end of your sophomore year. Why don’t you go to a community college, then transfer? Well I don’t want to that. I’ve always wanted to be more challenged. I feel like i’m better than that, of course that is not say I look down upon people who go that route. My sisters actually did that.

Let’s see

[ul][li]I’m going to be a senior in August
[/li]

[li]I’m currently number 5 in my class
[/li]

[li]French Club-All 4 years
[/li]

[li]Cross Country and Track-10th Grade, maybe 12th
[/li]

[li]UIL Academics-11th and 12th
[/li]

[li]Student Council-11th and 12th
[/li]

[li]National Honors Society-11th and 12th
[/li]

[li]1840 on my SAT. I’ve only taken it once.
[/li]

[li]I took the ACT today actually.
[/li]

[li]AP English Language (scores aren’t back yet). Looking to take AP Calculus, AP Govt. & Econ., and AP English Lit. next year.
[/li]

[li]I’ve narrowed down my choices to Architecture and Film (Production, Film making, anything within this umbrella that’ll lead me to the film industry)
[/li]

[li]Colleges: UT Austin, Columbia, Yale, NYU Tisch, Pratt
[/li]

[/ul]

I feel under qualified for either field and any of the colleges, except for UT Austin. I have no experience in either field, and I’ve read about having a portfolio sent in with your application (maybe it’s for graduate degrees?). I’ve thought about going there (UT) and then trying to transfer, but I’ve read about how hard it is to transfer to schools like Tisch. I just need help and guidance in general.

@barrk123 UT’s website says they don’t have a minimum for those in the top 10%.

@zobroward I’ll take a look at it. Although I don’t know about Arkansas.

@Erin’s Dad Yes I am from Texas, which is why my safety school is UT. I was hoping to get financial aid, scholarships, and the like. I know that it won’t cover much, but it’ll help. My if-all-else-fails school is UT in Arlington.

I really doubt you’ll get anything from NYU or Pratt. Are you from a low income family? While Yale and Columbia have good FA your stats make them a huge reach. Arlington looks like a good fall-back.

NYU and Pratt give lousy aid, and your SATs aren’t high enough for merit scholarships.

What will your EFC be? What EFCs did your sisters get?

"@zobroward I’ll take a look at it. Although I don’t know about Arkansas."
do not base your opinion of the school or area on what directors in hollywood (CA) make Arkansas out to be! you maybe very pleasantly suprised if you go and visit the school and the area around it! maybe not, but they only way to know other then reading is a road / plane trip!
