<p>So what is it and why should I attend a “speed-dating party”?</p>
<p>they set up tables and either the men or women rotate from table to table for 2-3 minutes to get to know each other just a little and at the end of the night all the men turn in a list of their top 5 women and the women do the same. the organizers try to match up people as best they can. </p>
<p>it’s not always that time limit or that many on the list, but that’s the basics of it. my school has had two this year…i didnt go to either</p>

<p>I’m not sure whether I should go; I don’t want to appear desperate, and I think that’s the only reason one would attend these events. I’m not desperate; it is just that I don’t attend parties here, so it is difficult for me to meet people outside of my usual clubs (chess club, etc.).</p>
<p>If you are interested, just go. No one is going to be judging you. Especially since everyone there will be in a similar situation.</p>

<p>If you don’t like anyone you meet, think of it as 15-20 less women in the world to consider.</p>
<p>don’t expect to go to speed dating and find a girlfriend /boyfriend there lol some groups of people just set up for social meetings and meet new friends. If you have nothing to do then go :D</p>
<p>Well, it’s near February 14th, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it is for a romantic purpose.</p>
<p>At any rate, at least everyone is going there for the same reason, so there is no ambiguity.</p>
<p>If you’re not busy, I’d go. As was said earlier, no one will judge you or–unless you make a particularly strong impression–remember you for that matter! lol.</p>
<p>Enjoy it. Social functions are what college is all about; otherwise, you could just take all your classes online… (oh…wait…you can…)</p>

<p>My school had one of those and I also was hesitant to go, but I ended up meeting a guy who I went out with for 5 months. Don’t go in with any expectations but it doesn’t hurt to just meet people!</p>
