What is St John's College like for women?

Hi, This is a question about St. John’s College in Santa Fe and Annapolis. Wondering what student life is like for women? Asking because I understand that the women’s 4-year graduation rate is lower than men’s and that the faculty is about 70% male.

thanks!

I’ve got a 18 year old son in Annapolis there now. I can tell you he has a woman teaching him Greek, a man teaching him math, science, & music, and two teachers (one man and one woman) for seminar. I’m sorry I cannot tell you more. There is a Reddit that you might try searching.

Ai says that the faculty at both campuses skews more heavily female, about 55:45 female:male.

With regard to the graduation rates, I am seeing a little higher graduation rates for males on their common data set, but information for the last 2 years isn’t reported and what is reported is 6-year graduation rate for the class entering in 2016. This would seem to be badly out of date. In addition, the numbers are so tiny that the shift of a few students either way can make the percents seem large when the actual number of students is small.

Have you contacted the college for current data? That would seem to be the best source for accurate information. As small as the 2 campuses are, it’s unlikely that there will be many (if any) posters here who have direct experience with St. John’s. However, colleges are usually very good about putting prospective students in touch with current students for a video chat or the like for a Q & A session. Hopefully they can provide you with answers to your questions.

I saw that too, but I am concerned it’s not accurate so I agree with contacting the school for that data, but if the question is how is it for women, I do think talking to a student is what will be helpful.

Both of these campuses are so small that I wonder how many full time faculty they even have.
