What is the average score on the ACT science section & what was yours?

What is the average score on the ACT science section & does it really affect your overall application if you didn’t do well when colleges see it??
Also what was your score on all sections??

anyone…?

i got a 34 on science… i got a 32 overall. I found science to be the easiest section because it really required little thinking, the answers were all on the page and you just had to look at it

Your national average on all sections of the test are usually in the 20 to 21 range. As to impact on admission, it depends on the college. Most consider composite as the key score. However, there are many that consider math and English as more important than the other two subscores and in fact, there are some colleges that consider only the math and English scores and ignore everything else including composite (examples: GTech, Rose-Hulman- yes, those two “science” colleges completely ignore the science score)

Thanks for the info!
That’s really suprising that GA Tech ignores the science section & it’s a “science” school.
I’m trying to apply to UGA for next year & I saw that their application only asked for Math & English & the total composite score. I was confused thinking that maybe they averaged in the two subject scores & ignored the reading & science subjects. I don’t know.
Again Thank you for your info, it was really helpful!

Well, now that you mentioned UGA: they actually do consider the entire score and subscores but weight math and English as more important. The reason the application specifically asks for the math and English score is because the Board of Regents has set a minimum score of 17 on each of the math and English sections for you even to be considered for admission to UGA and the app is just trying to learn if you meet that minimum.

[This table](http://www.act.org/news/data/04/pdf/t4.pdf) puts the 50th percentile score at right about 20.
