What is the best boarding school for journalism
A school that is great in these aspects:
English
Newspaper
Magazine
TV
Radio

I know St. Paul’s has a radio, literary magazine, and The Pelican newspaper, but I am not sure about tv.

Exeter’s paper (The Exonian) is really good. As well as Andover’s Phillipian. Both schools also have radio station I think. So does Taft.

The Hotchkiss Record is fantastic. It recently won a gold medal award from Columbia, I believe. Plus, if you manage to get to the top, you will occupy the same seat that Briton Hadden and Henry Luce occupied (they are the founders of Time magazine; Luce also founded Sports illustrated, and Life magazines as well). For any aspiring journalist, that has got to be a huge draw. Hotchkiss also has a radio station. The alumni department publishes a magazine. They’re also less official publications like the Whipping Post, it is mostly satirical. I have found that Hotchkiss’ English department is absolutely brilliant. I strongly believe that the strength of our English program is one of the primary reason for Hotchkiss’ preeminence in debate circles, aside from the magical coaching abilities of the “Vs”.

Yes, I agree that the Hotchkiss one is absolutely fantastic! dhurley, have you already been accepted to these schools and is choosing or are you applying?

i am going to apply for the 2011/2012 academic year
have any of you heard of Gilmour Academy in the greater Cleveland area?

Yes, Catholic prep school, with a boarding program. Good school, I heard! Are you going?

The best boarding school for journalism would be the one that advises students not to pursue a career in journalism. :)

whats wrong with journalism(sports journalism particularly) NYCParent1?

There’s nothing wrong with it. But it is looking particularly grim these days. Journalism schools are turning out thousands of graduates whose ability to make a living in that field has changed drastically over the last few years.

I want to pursue a career that I am passionate about(sports)
what other sports jobs are there other than being an athlete?
I know it sounds crazy but I just dont see myself doing anything else other than in the field of sports

@dhurly23 Gilmour Academy is awesome! It will be my 8th year there next year. The academics are wonderful with great elective choices. We have really good cross country, track and field, tennis, and golf teams. I really enjoy going there. Do you know if you’re going yet, have you decided?

What about creative writing? what school offers most classes in creative writing and has teachers excited about creative writing?
