So let’s select the top 9 US schools, per the Census Regions / Divisions below. Only one school per region/division.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
I’m assuming this is a diversionary game like “Rate the Schedule Above You” and so am moving to the cafe.

Define “best”…
What is the criteria?

I will go first:

  1. New England - Yale
  2. Middle Atlantic - Princeton
  3. East North Central - University of Chicago
  4. West North Central - Washington University
  5. South Atlantic - Duke
  6. East South Central - Vanderbilt
  7. West South Central - Rice
  8. Mountain - BYU
  9. Pacific - Stanford

Getting the popcorn!

Pass some over this way, LM!

Dang it, I finished my popcorn this afternoon and it’s too late to get more! May as well just go to sleep.

Because these states have so much in common…

Gosh, it’s such a fascinating thread to take the census regions and then look at the USNews rankings and find the highest ranked in each region. This is full of incredible insight not found anywhere else. Who would have know that Yale, Princeton, Duke, etc were fine schools if it weren’t for the rigorous detective work exhibited here?

Yawn. I expect this nonsense from high school seniors, not the parents.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
OK guys, let’s assume, as I said in my post above, that this is just a mindless game like the many found in HSL. Feel free to not play the game, but don’t simply comment with side eye.

^ But but, peer pressure is fun…

Picking my jaw off the floor: BYU ???

@katliamom - who is your pick from the Mountain Region?

Colorado College

Is this just for fun or are you seriously looking to search for schools to apply to because collecting a list like this serves no purpose. For what major are you looking for? For example if you are looking for engineering then we can point you in some direction about regionally known engineering schools. Otherwise I am not able to offer anything.

My understanding is that we were assuming that this is just a “mindless game.”

@ClarinetDad16 – for starters, CU Boulder has 5 Nobel Prize laureates, is in the top 10 in federal research/project grants, and has a long, and distinguished history in aerospace. The system also has a top-ranked medical school.

BYU has 26 US Senators / Congress plus Governor Mitt Romney.

Hmmm… politicians on one hand and doctors, scientists, researches, etc on the other. Yup katlia wins this round imo.
