What is the best dorm to live in at Penn State UP for a student with ADD?

i am going to be a freshman at Penn State and I have ADD, so I don’t want to be too distracted. Also, I am kinda worried about living with upperclassmen, and I heard that East Halls are the “party dorms”. I wanna have fun, but I don’t want to party during the week.

ADD is not real

^Please tell me you’re just ■■■■■■■■ and don’t really believe that. If you do I think the world of Psychology would like a word with you, because there are 6 documented types of ADD, each worse than the one before.

ADD is over diagnosed

^More so about 10 years ago, not so much anymore. I agree it was over-diagnosed but Yakyu claiming that it isn’t real is a gross and insulting overstatement.

well it is somewhere between overdiagnosed and doesn’t exist, closer to the former

like fat people… some overweight people are overweight because they have a hereditary condition or something, but most are just lazy and eat too much

^Like I said, it used to be massively overdiagnosed, a kind of diagnostic panic. But research supports the claim that ADD exists and that there are about 6 types of it… trouble is the last 3 types mimic other disorders… namely bipolar so it’s hard to figure out if the person was bipolar or had Ring of Fire ADD (I believe it was Ring of Fire that correlated to Bipolar, it could have been one of the other two, it’s been awhile since Physio Psych).

this is probably insensitive, but… Ring of Fire ADD sounds BA

^I’m glad you live on North campus. :P

@MLD - it does sound awesome, unfortunately the reason they call it that is because that’s what lights up on the MRI.

Eh, from what my friends have told me and what I’ve experienced, you don’t really get a choice. Most freshmen are stuck in East (exclusively freshmen dorms). It’s not so much party central (you can avoid parties if you want) as it is a bunch of really loud, drunk people walking back to their dorms at 3am every weekend.

West is supposed to be the best. North is quiet and isolated. South is sorority central. And Pollock’s kind of just randomly there.

You MIGHT be able to negotiate a single or a room in a quieter dorm as an accommodation under the ADA for the ADHD. You’d have to contact the university to find out about that.

Lol, every thread I go to that has a potential ■■■■■ infestation, Itachi is here.

@Aero

I don’t understand what you’re saying. How is West the best? It’s full of the weird Engineers and Asians.

Pick East for your contract. Curtin has the best view of the mountains and the BJC and is next to the bus stop. Sproul has the fastest Elevators and is next the Dining commons. The rest of the Dorms at East have no advantage as to location or commodities besides Curtin and Sproul.

You can’t party in the dorms or they will kick you out so don’t worry about that. Everyone goes to Frat Row for the parties.

@asinine – what’s with this recent belief that I’m some sort of ■■■■■? Show me up there how what I said was ■■■■■■■■. Seriously, everything I said was a statement of fact.

…if anything I am a ■■■■■…

I also love how similar PSU is to Umich… lot of parallels in the housing situation. Don’t rip on East (North Campus), engineers are awesome and probably 40% of my friends here are asian because of engineering…

No Itachi, I didn’t assert any statement that suggested you were a ■■■■■, I just complemented the coincidence that whenever I pop into a thread with the least bit of controversy, you’re here. Which is good. :D

Ohh, it sounded like you were talking about me being part of the ■■■■■ infestation. Got it, hard to tell intent on statements like that over the internet. I actually was stalking Yakyu Spirit’s comments because he’s said some pretty effed up, offensive things on other boards too. Nothing helps reboot a sleepy brain like getting POed at someone’s stupidity… that’s what makes Fundies such a brilliant site.
