A muzzle for his mother.

It all depends on the individuals involved.

One of my kids had an agreement with college-significant-other that they would not buy each other anything but token gifts for any occasion. A $50 piece of jewelry, which seems like a good generic choice in most circumstances, would have been a violation of this agreement.

I think a handmade gift is a wonderful idea.

I would stay away from jewelry. $50 doesn’t go far, even for costume and he’ll just go into some store where he rarely shops in and pick whatever is affordable. Instead, I like eastcoast’s idea of special tickets somewhere- a play or a movie. Or dinner out. Somewhere off campus. I also like the handmade card idea.

maybe put it towards her birth control? I hear that is expensive and some health plans don’t cover it. It’s a gift they could both enjoy together.

Oh my God, soccerguy, I needed a good laugh. All the stress of waiting for kids college acceptances (or more likely denials) is getting to me. What a thoughtful idea.
