What is the best overall university?

Most people will agree that a school like Harvard is one of best universities in the world, but college is more than academics.

In your opinion, what’s the best overall university based on academics, quality of campus, location, surrounding city, partying, sports, weather, diversity, tradition, etc.?

I’m gonna say USC, UCLA, Texas, & Florida in that order.

Depends on each person’s personal preferences, no? :stuck_out_tongue:
Plus, can’t fairly say without visiting each and every college/university.

the one that you enjoy the most

Michigan! Though the weather isn’t suited for most, I happen to enjoy having four seasons.

I was gonna list Michigan as one of my choices but I’m not a huge fan of the weather or surrounding city.

This thread is fail.

How can an OPINION thread be a fail?

The OPINIONS expressed are in response to a QUESTION that is fail and should never have been asked.

The OPINIONS expressed are in response to a QUESTION THAT ASKED FOR OPINIONS therefore the thread is serving its purpose.

University of Washington. All Bias aside

Rice and Brown, in my opinion, seem like the best of both worlds. LAC like+Uni

^ I want to transfer into Rice soooo badly

Best Overall School: Princeton U, easily. Amazing location (I’d know, I live near), great undergraduate education, and amazing ethnic food nearby.

UNC-Chapel Hill. Academically challenging and prestigious; excellent in nearly all athletic programs, beautiful college town, great weather, storied history, and an excellent location.

^Yeah UNC is pretty awesome.

I think it has to be places like Harvard, Yale, and Princeton up top, just based on the prestige that goes with those.

Factor in weather, UCLA, USC, Texas at Austin, Rice, Florida, etc. are pretty good colleges as well.

Stanford. Prestigious and located in California. It’s the best.

I like your thinking!

I’d have to agree with charlesveritas. Stanford.

a school with good academics, competitive sports teams, reasonable cost, a nice college community/town, nice weather, a lot of students.

Honestly, I think the best overall is the University of Virginia. Beautiful campus, exceptional academics, nice weather/college town, and competitive sports team. Even better for in-state students who are getting a ridiculous bargain. I was accepted but could not attend because it was just too expensive for OOS.

In general, I think a respectable public university is the best choice for a true college experience. You will be exposed to all different kinds of people, opportunities, challenges, and will truly be on “your own.”

Undergrad prestige = meaningless. What matters is your motivation and what you do with your opportunities. I know Ivy grads that are unemployed and CC grads who are very well off.
