What is the best time to ask LOR?

What the earliest date can we ask for LOR?

What is the best time to ask LOR?

Thanks

Best time is before summer starts, at the last weeks of school but the very beginning of the school year should be if not before.

Agree with cortana. And make sure you provide 1) information they can use in their rec letters about what you’ve achieved thus far and what you hope to accomplish academically and professionally, 2) envelopes that are already stamped and addressed and 3) the submission deadlines for each school (with a polite mention that you are hoping to get your application in early, so it would be wonderful if they were able to get their letters in early as well.

Here’s the advice that my daughter got from her guidance counselor:

Ask in the spring of your junior year, but wait until the seniors are gone. Until graduation, most teachers will be preoccupied with preparing and grading final exams for seniors, and then graduation activities and the inevitable crises that attend graduation (the seniors who may not graduate, the seniors whose slacking may cost them their college acceptances, etc.). After graduation, they’ll be ready to focus on underclassmen again. And that still leaves plenty of time before you’ll be submitting your college applications next fall.

And, yes, do provide those things M’s Mom listed.
