What is the best universities for piano major??

Im currently a sophomore in high school and
I’m going to major in piano
I have researched top universities for piano major
but I couldn’t find that many universities
I was wondering whats the best universties for piano major

If you’re looking for piano majors at universities or colleges, as opposed to free-standing conservatories:
Indiana
USC
Cincinnati
Bard
Oberlin
Michigan
Wisconsin
NYU
Stanford
BU
Rice
Lawrence
St. Olaf

Manhattan School of music of Julliard if you are looking at strictly music colleges, if not i would agree with ^, those are good picks.

You get the best of both worlds at University of Cincinnati…one of the country’s finest conservatories on a university campus. The conservatory is very self-contained, but you can take electives at UC if you wish…very little required from the conservatory in the way of traditional academics…you can test out of most of it…but the music requirements are very tough. Extremely competitive school…tough audition process…with top-flight reputation in NYC, where most of the musicians will end up, anyway. Don’t forget the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia…always has enjoyed the very best reputation…some would argue better than Julliard’s. Hope this helps. (CCM grad :)

north texas is supposed to be good for music as well…

Bard…(has the best faculty from both Julliard and Curtis.)

Umm, Sarah, I’m pretty sure that, as a music major, you could concentrate in piano. That might explain why schools like Harvard, Georgetown and UCLA don’t list “piano” as a major. HTH.

Sarah- there are different ways to go with this. If you want to be a “piano major” then you would need to look at schools that offer a Bachelor of Music degree. This is a performance based degree that requires about 75 - 80 % of your credits to be in music. If you want to get a Bachelor of Arts in music, only about 1/3 of your credits will be in music. You can concentrate in piano, but you won’t be a piano major per se. To learn more about all of this I strongly suggest you go to the main discussion board and look for the music majors discussion area. You will find a lot of information there.

the music school at bgsu is very good.

U of Cincy isn’t that desirable of a university. The conservatory is good in some disciplines, but the quality of life at the university is lacking. I would not recommend it.

Boston U
CUNY
Curtis
Eastman
Indiana U Bloomington
Julliard
Liszt Academy (Hungary)
Manhattan School
Mannes College of Music
New England Cons
Northwestern U
Peabody Conservatory
Rice
Royal C of Music (London)
Sarah Lawrence
Southern Methodist
SUNY Stony Brook
U Houston
U Maryland College Park
U Michigan Ann Arbor
USC
U Texas Austin
Yale U School of Music

Check the [Toradze Piano Studio](<a href=“Melodi88 Situs Judi Online Terbaik Indonesia Deposit 10 Rb”>http://www.toradzepianostudio.org/) at Indiana University South Bend. Led by Lexo Toradze - extremely selective, but great exposure if you get in. Some parts of IUSB are more typical regional IU campus, but fine arts is strong and piano is world-class.

Also check out universities that have joint programs with nearby conservatories. Johns Hopkins, U Rochester, and Rice do something like that. Look at Oberlin College- great music program.

Yale
Julliard
Peabody
New England Conservatory
.
.
.
Manhattan School of Music

university or rochester

Julliard of course… The average person doesnt know what Julliard is but among music people… Julliard is the top. Well maybe Curtis. but julliard is wayy better than yale or all those other universities.
