What is the best way to explain crappy scores?

Email? Snail mail?

I haven’t done US history since 10th grade, and with my family moving and me not, some family members in the hospital, and a 1007 other things going on I ended up with 2 days ahead of the test to try and brush up. Needless to say, my score stunk, I am re-taking in January, but does anyone here have a clue on how to contact them with a note of explanation? Also need to change the phone number, and I can’t find the update page previously mentioned on here.

how crappy is the “crappy” score…? they will see that you haven’t done US hist for a while by simply looking at your transcript. sat2 options are limited. i am in similar situation; I had to take literature sat2 and jsut found out that i got 640 on it. well, if you took the test because ypu simply had to, make it known.

you can always write one of your essays on it, but now seem s to be a little late… :P

i would have sent in a small note explaining it with your app, but i think your a bit late for that. i dunno talk to your gc. good luck.

two days straight self study of ushistory before the saturday of the test.
no sleep. 700!

don’t, it seems like your coping out, and besides that’s your gc’s job

Wow I hate you, I didn’t even have that much time, beyone family junk I ended up with 48 hours, with papers due that weekend, a major exam, class, and I worked 12 hours…Didn’t sleep much either…

Excellent amazement to you though! That is beyond awesome!

No they were WAY worse than that, I still can’t believe I was this horrible, I got a 530…Which makes no sense, because I was sure it would at least be a 600, I’m seriously wondering if I bubbled them in wrong…But that’s all aside, I am praying I get deferred so that I can have another shot at the scores with the Jan test date. The rest of my application was really pretty good, but those scores will kill me.

Yeah, I’m worried that it will come across as a cope out, I’ve always hated that, the little “have pity on me” line but on the other hand, those scores are not anywhere close to normal for me. Shakes head Maybe just a note that I’m retaking it? I don’t know…

I don’t have a GC, I just signed up for classes…I wasn’t instate when they were assigned, and by the time I could get one I was already registered for classes and knew what I wanted for spring as well, so I didn’t bother…

SweetestSith, dont worry. If the rest of your app is good, and you have a total of 4 SAT IIs including writing (its still counted, i found out) then your USH test wont count, like my 600 in Lit wont count.

Don’t have 4 though, just the 3 and the ACT, but thanks!

Oh, other side, if they count the SAT writing as one, would they also count the ACT? Cause that would give 4, and my writing for the ACT was decent…

im not sure though if theyl combine SAT and ACT…you can ask though.

btw have you taken APUSH? I took AP Lit and got a 4, and a 600 :frowning: :frowning: my 4 is much stronger, right?

dont explain them and dont waste an essay on them…emphasize your interest in learning or your struggles in a specific class (and what it meant to you) if you are really worried about it

Oh my apps already submitted, but I wouldn’t use an essay on them anyway…

I was homeschooled for 3 years, now I’m in college, so we didn’t have AP’s. I think I’m considered a homeschooler with a year of straight college credit for my senior year.

Thanks all!

Wait a sec… writing is still counted as one of the SAT II’s, callthecops? Seriously? If it is… yay!

I have a question about crappy scores…

I just got my German w/Listening SATII score, and I did pitiful on it. I mean, absolutely atrocious.

However, do you think the school could interpret it differently, because I have only been in German for 2yrs and have had straight As the whole time. I am actually right now taking AP German 5, but have only been studying the language for two years. And I mean I’ve never been to Germany or anything.

I’m really worried if I filled in the wrong bubbles or something, because I’m pretty good at German for my short time. This has my quite worried. I did well on my other SAT IIs, a 710 in U.S. History and 660 in Biology E, why I took Bio E, I don’t know. Should have done M… lol…

jacquesier: I am kind of in the same boat EXCEPT I am in my 7th year of Spanish, went to school in Central America for two summers AND Spanish along with Latin American studies is my No. 2 Activity/Interest. Yes, I plan to major in Latin American Studies and Spanish in college and I got a 480 on the SAT II !!! I had a major bubbling error!! Hopefully, the adcom will realize this! If not, I guess they are going to get a good kick out of my score considering my demonstrated interest in Spanish.

Hey Worldshopper:

Right that makes two of us! I’m planning on minoring in German and I’m even President of my German Club, so this really looks bad for me. I’m so mad at myself, I hope Princeton can be forgiving… Yeh, hopefully they will at least get a good laugh… I built my interest in German just as you must have done so with Spanish…

Offers sympathy carrots to all

takes one

Thanks for the carrot… It takes my pain away… And helps improve my vision…

Jacquesier: Glad I am not alone!
