Nerds in general are more quiet and wont be too noisy to wake you up before your 8 am class. Also, less chance of late night booty calls to shake the walls next to you in your own room. Partiers are better in terms of meeting people. They bring people back to your house. But then again, late night parties means louder living conditions. What would you guys pick? Should i just live with nerds and take initiative to meet people?

How about a medium? =)

I don’t mind a person if they party AND are on top of their academics!

But if I had to choose, I’d have to choose the nerds. I don’t mind being friends with the partiers but living with them – umm I’ll pass, unless I’m good friends with them.

Definitely living with nerds. I’m in a “loud” dorm - which is apparently where all the partiers are and thus I NEVER. GET. ANY. SLEEP. :(

Live with the nerds. If you find that it really sucks, then change it next year or join a frat and live in the house.

Just a medium. Go with the flow and dont judge people. its a good way to live life and meet people Ive come to realize after a year in college.

I can tell you from experience that living with “nerds” is horrible. They’re often more of a a–hole than the mock jocks

I ended up in a dorm house thats kind of nerdy and has only upperclassmen and no freshmen except for my roommate. So far the other people have been pretty chill, but I kind of wished that there were more freshmen here. And well Ive only been here for 3 days but the quietness of it all is a very positive aspect. I find it best to live with nerds and meet partyers outside of your house. It lets you stay on top of your academics and have fun at the same time.

I’m a nerd, so I’d much rather live with nerds than with partiers.

Ideally, I’d like to live by myself, but live with nerds, be friends with nerds and partiers if I had to choose.

Nerds all the way

partiers. they are more open minded and laid back, and more forgiving (they have had bad drunk moments, so if you screw up, it’s not a huge deal). gives you an in to the party scene, socially a good move.

i am living with partiers and all but two people have gpa’s above 3.2 and we go to an academically tough school. I love living with my friends and we like to have a good time but we can keep up the grades

I live in a dorm that is generally thought of as a party dorm. It’s okay. I can get a lot of party hookups that way, etc., but sometimes it is very loud, especially when I am trying to sleep. My roommate likes to party but we never have noise problems. I think it’s best to live somewhere where you match the other people living there (if you’re huge into studying and value quiet, don’t live in a party dorm, if you’re a big partier, don’t live in a more studious place). I know people who don’t really live with others who like the same things they do, and they don’t really love it.

If I had to choose, I’d pick living with the “nerds.” I lived between two sets of partiers last year in the dorms, and it sucked!

Well most people I know are the study hard, party hard type of people (get mostly As while going out several times a week). I find hanging out with these types of people who are like me works out well, because during times of studying (times for midterms and finals) the partying is dialed back slightly and the reverse in times where it is easy.

I find living with someone similar to you works out, you go to sleep at similar times, you need quiet at the same times, yet you both will sometimes get back at 4-5 am (but you learn to just get back be quiet and go to bed, without waking your roommate).

I was used to a roommate going to sleep like 5-6 hours before I did, so I had to study during the day and then go out and do stuff with other friends at night. That really forced me to get stuff done when I could use the room to do hw, print stuff, etc… In a way that was a good thing though.

If it came down to it, I’d prefer someone in between those two, that goes to bed on average around 2, (as I don’t want to be the one to goes to sleep while my roommate stays up for hours).

I live with smart kids who don’t party but are cool. They’re awesome. I have friends that party in other buildings so I can sleep when I want and party when I want and I have a great support system for homework

anybody but partiers.

Nerds–at least you will get your sleep~! Hell, they’ll prob. help you with your hw!

Nerds would be in the room constantly, and lord knows if they would possess any social skills. I’m dealing with that right now. I’d rather have a partier.

Wow, this is judgmental post…

Why are there suddenly just these two stereotypical people and their distinct character traits? I know lots of smart people who study constantly, but they don’t get up at 6 every morning and they’re not socially inept. I also know lots of people who love to party and they don’t sleep in till noon every day and ignore their work. If you don’t like your roomate then fine, but why do you have to pass judgment on all the nerdy or party-loving people in the world?
