I am doing a project for my social justice class, and I have to find out the church’s stance on the legalization of marijunia, but I can’t seem to find any info, if anyone has any info that would be great. I know that they are against but i am not sure when it comes to medical etc.

If you think about, the Church’s anti-marijuana stance really doesn’t make that much sense.

The Church – if we’re talking about the Catholic Church – hasn’t taken a real stance on marijuana either way, any more than it has on things like tobacco and hard liquor. Basically, the Church’s view is that you shouldn’t abuse drugs, period. There is no teaching that says smoking the occasional joint (like having a few drinks once in awhile) is a sin. The questions are, how often are you doing it and why are you doing it? If it is all the time, then there is likely a problem there. Likewise, if it is to escape from life, then there is likely a problem.

Probably a lot like it’s stance on pedophilia…

I meant the Catholic Church.

What’s wrong with a bit of good old-fashioned gallantry towards young boys?

That train’s never late…
