According to the 2006-2007 UCSD estimated budget, we are being charged $6684.60 for resident fees and $9657 for room and board. What is the difference between them?

I’m looking at this: <a href=“Financial Aid & Scholarships”>Financial Aid & Scholarships. Though I’m not a Triton, it looks like resident fees is tuition. That looks about right as tuition is almost $7000 at all UC’s for California residents. Room and board would be, well housing and dining.

UCs aren’t allowed to charge tuition for state residents to attend, but they can charge “fees” up the wazoo (as you will soon learn). Out of state students, however, DO pay tuition. Basically resident fee = tuition for instate students.
