What is the easiest major to get in?

NEU is my dream school, and I don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t get in. I know I want to major in Business, but I don’t know if I can get in since it is a really competitive major and a lot of people are applying. So, my question is what is the easiest major to get in at NEU, and should I apply for that major or business?

Here are my stats:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/northeastern-university/833460-chance-rd-ill-chance-you-back.html

If you want business, apply for that now, since it be difficult to transfer into it.

apply for the school you want. they are all pretty much the same. your chances look decent too. good luck!

yeah i think you will get in.

Psych was really easy to get into… I had a 2.9 gpa. I did have a really good essay and really good SAT’s though

Thanks guys, I sent in my app few days ago, and applied for Business!! WISH ME GOOD LUCK!!

Nursing school is the least competitive college at northeastern.

^Um, what?

er. False. Nursing is competitive and once you’re inside you repeatedly get your ass kicked.

Anthropology, sociology, human services FTW.

Ooops!

Emily, you’d better be nice to younger people. and Let’'s be honest. I asked several people in Northeastern the same question as lzygiafas "What is the easiest major to get in? " All of them gave the same answer. That is Nursing school. The average GPA of the
admitted students are about 2.5.

fslzcl is correct!

False and i find it funny how uncreative and similar both the posters usernames above me are. Nursing is in Bouve, arguably the hardest school at Northeastern. Nice try.

ok. I totally believe you that nursing is easy to get into and an easy major. Guess I just don’t know much about northeastern.

Look how nice that was, I feel so much better now that I’m not hurting any feelings.

But this is getting off topic. The “easiest” majors are going to be the least popular. It’s not because the standards are more lax but because the school wants to fill the alloted spots for each major. Business, engineering, and all bouve majors are all popular and thus “harder” to get into, while within the CSA I’d imagine bio, psychology, and econ being some of the more popular.

The acceptance rates of students who apply for a major like human services is going to be significantly higher than rate for students in a bouve major. Each major has a certain number of spots. Human services gets very few (let’s pretend it’s 10) but they also get very few applicants (let’s pretend it’s 20). Pretend bio has 100 spots and 600 applicants. Simple math: Human services is easier to get into than biology.

This is all very over-simplified. Rate of acceptance isn’t a very good tool because it doesn’t involve the quality of students accepted, and when it comes to applying to the university, there are tons of factors involved, not just the major you’re applying to. But sure, very simplified: less popular major = easier to be accepted into.

I agree with emily and find it slightly amusing that others are suggesting otherwise. Nursing is one of the more competitive majors to be accepted to. Almost anything in A&S is easier to get into.

only a mom of a NEU student here , but I would have to agree with Emily here ( who is one of the most knowledgeable poster on NEU forum )
My daughter is a second yr Bouve , health science major…she roomed with a business major last year and also this year…some of their classes were the same , though hers were much more difficult when they compared…business had much easier classes.
Also, she had a friend that was a nursing major and transferred to a much easier school because she couldn’t hack it after the very first semester.

Health Science major is a popular and competitive. Then we need to look into what kind of program the health scince (Bouve) has. There are three programs. As everybody knows,
School of Halth Pofessional, School of Pharmacy, and School of Nursing. The School of Halth Pofessional and School of Pharmacy are very competitive and promising school. let’s be honest. The School of Nursing is a good since the supply of nurses is not enough and Hospitals demand more nurses. However, nursing school acceptance rate and the application records are not as good as the other two schools(health professional and pharmacy). Nursing School’s score significantly less than the other two. This is not unique just at Northeastern. The trend is everywehere. Some school even shut down the nursing school program. We have to tell the truth. Of course I like to say that all the program at Northeastern is great. however, we have to provide right informations to other students who might apply next year. Less competitive does not mean it is not a good program. That is just what it is, and students have to apply to the program that they are interested in or they want to study.

I applied to Northeastern and chose my major as Business, which is competitive. But I was wondering whether entrepreneurship major is competitive since that’s what I chose for my intended study.
